This is a great lesson for Halloween but can be used any time you are learning about the body!
Did you know there are 206 bones in the human body? Although a child has 270!! The hands and feet combined contain more than half those bones. But why not get outside and get children to create skeletons!
Activity
Talk about the bones within the human body, can children guess how many there are? Can they name any?
Tell children they are to use twigs or other natural materials to create a skeleton. No twigs available? Simply ask a child to lay down and draw around them using chalk. Can children find things to act as bones or can they draw the main bones on?
Younger Children
This is a great way to help them learn the basics of the human body. Can they identify different parts?
Older children
This can be much more complicated. Can they recreate skeleton which is close to being anatomically correct? Can they name or label the different parts?
